What are you celebrating today?

1. weirdvis5 March 2011, 9:46 GMT +01:00

Always a popular thread at the other place.

I'll kick this one off.

It was my birthday the other day. I was expecting a bottle of my favourite perfume (I've been dropping hints I was running low) and woke up to a Land Rover Freelander on the drive. I've always wanted a 4x4 and now I've finally got one courtesy of my Mum and my Significant Other Half.

Okay, so it's not a new one and it's not an all singing, all dancing model, but that doesn't bother me. It's a freaking Freelander, dudes!

Mine's a white soft top like the one in the foreground.

Downside - I'll have to fund my own bottle of smellies. Oh hold on - there's Mother's Day coming up...

I am so jealous of you both having such great cameras! You both have the skill to get the most out og them, too! Happy snapping!

I just Googled my name and found out that a lot of people credit my photos :) now that makes me happy ^_^

340. xymonau16 June 2012, 9:42 GMT +02:00

LOL Yes, that's a fabulous thing to celebrate!

@339 When I Google my name, I find that apparently I'm an executive with a chewing gum company, a principal of a basketball team, an oil executive, an IT specialist, and a percussionist with the Sydney Orchestra. Apparently I also live in 47 different places in the UK alone. What it is to be popular! Sigh... :-(

342. xymonau16 June 2012, 13:38 GMT +02:00

I think that's called multiple personality disorder, but I can't explain the countries...

343. Gramps18 June 2012, 8:20 GMT +02:00

I fink it's the reason a few coppers are lookin for our moffs as well :0)

344. micromoth18 June 2012, 13:59 GMT +02:00

Lol! I'd prefer pounds to coppers, but I ain't dun nuffin wrong, guv.

345. boogy_man19 June 2012, 7:21 GMT +02:00

You should make a lot of money out of that chewing gum company Kevin, sell it to the basketball team and get a top end camera :D

346. micromoth19 June 2012, 13:10 GMT +02:00

Yes, but which me would they give the money to??? I can see some problems here!

We have been given a small fish tank and I bought a starter kit today. I'm curiuos to see how (and even if) it will work cause we're raw rookies.

oh, there are quite bautiful fishes which are patient with beginners, guppies for example. I started with them years ago. Loved most of all to have a little dwarf claw frog in our fish tank. unfortunately one day he came into the pump. What an awful way to die... Always too curious those little animals :-(

I just realised that I now have 2000 images in my gallery. I can never find the one I am looking for with so many, and I still haven't fixed the titles that I lost when I moved the images here from sxc. But it feels like a landmark.

How are your fish going Gesine? I had goldfish in a larger tank - about 50cm by a metre. They grew really big, but kept trying to jump out. I put tiny feeder fish in there for them (I didn't like doing it as I liked the little fish, too). The top was left off the tank one day and one fish suicided onto the floor. Then my son and his friend cleaned the water (you're supposed to do only a small amount at a time) and the goldfish went crazy, slamming himself against the rocks. He was in pain and I didn't know what to do, so I took him out of the tank and let him die. I couldn't kill him with a knife or anything, and I just had to remind myself that fish die every day in nets in the same manner.

After that, I discoverd some baby feeder fish that must have been bred in the tank - they were so tiny. I had them for a while, but as I recall, they died eventually. So I don't want to inflict myself on any more poor fish. They are very smart, though, and will come up to your hand and at feeding time.

A 2K gallery is a great achievement, Dez. Comparable to an author writing a novel you are compiling your very own unique and lasting creative showroom here. That it is getting harder and harder to find a specific image in this large collection is no wonder with your enormous bandwidth of themes and subjects. Just stick on and you will soon reach 3K.

352. gesinek3 September 2012, 19:44 GMT +02:00

Fishes are fine and they get a lot of Babies. Don't know what to do??!!

And it's really a great galery you have. Congrats!

353. tinneketin3 September 2012, 22:02 GMT +02:00

2000 ? It's a lot but they are great ! ;o)
Congrats Dez !

354. xymonau3 September 2012, 22:54 GMT +02:00

Thanks, everyone. :)

Gesine, can you sell the babies?

355. gesinek4 September 2012, 23:18 GMT +02:00

Don't know. I will ask in the shop where we buyed the parents. Or try to find someone on internet. Some of my colleges want them for the fish tanks of their kids but there is such a lot little molly babies...

In the moment we can count about 23 and two of the girls are still pregnant.

I'll try to make some photos next weekend.

356. xymonau6 September 2012, 14:50 GMT +02:00

Wow! You'll have to do something, won't you? I guess while they're tiny it's okay.

357. lennie17 September 2012, 16:04 GMT +02:00

I wasn't paying much attention to this thread, but congratiolations Dez with your 2k !

Which means we now have more users than photos.

Also we reached the 1 million pageviews per month.

I think these are great numbers :-)

@357 That's great news Lennie! And I have noticed a continuing upward trend of downloads per day from my gallery too, indicating that RGB Stock is becoming more and more widely known.

360. xymonau3 October 2012, 21:58 GMT +02:00

I think we should all be celebrating the numbers that are signing up to RGB. We have had more than 250 per day on several recent days. I remember when 30 per day was exciting.

361. Ayla8714 November 2012, 14:32 GMT +01:00

More than 75 K photos online now, I think that's a nice figure :)
