How Alexa describes us..

1. lusi9 April 2011, 17:49 GMT +02:00

Has anyone read the description of average rgbstock users on Alexa? I had to laugh...
".... Compared with internet averages, the site's users are disproportionately female, and they are disproportionately more educated, low-income users aged 25–35 and 55–65 who have more children."

Are we also disproportionately low-income users?

We know lots of non-needy people use our images. But they know quality when they see it! :)

27. micromoth21 April 2011, 13:29 GMT +02:00

@26 I couldn't agree more. I visited the Other Site a few days ago, just to see what was happening over there. I was appalled at the low quality of some of the more recently accepted images - ones that our reviewers would never have let through if they had been there. So it seems that the OS is gradually dying of mediocrity, exactly as was predicted would happen after You Know Who took over.
RGBStock, by contrast, is going from strength to strength. I see we're nearly up to 60,000 images and 15,000 users now.

and we are mere amateurs

;-)

Our Alexa ranking slipped below 90 thousand to 88,846.

The number keeps going down as we go up the ladder!

That's great news, Cris. And a good reason for me to go enjoy a celebratory double shot mocha at lunchtime. :D

Pick axes and ropes ready... we keep climbing!

Lusi is so popular she now has an Alexa ranking of her own just for her gallery at rgbstock.

Wow! I feel flattered :)
By the way, have you noticed that they have changed the description of rgbstock users? Now we TEND to be female and are moderately educated... no disproportion anymore..
"... Compared with the overall internet population, its audience tends to be female; it also appeals more to moderately educated users between the ages of 25 and 55 who have more children..."

34. xymonau29 June 2011, 0:03 GMT +02:00

Wow, Lusi, well done!

35. fishmonk22 July 2011, 12:58 GMT +02:00

I'm fairly low income & moderately educated & in touch with my feminine side... does that count?

36. lusi22 July 2011, 17:50 GMT +02:00

Of course! The touch with the feminine side is crucial... Therefore, Alexa's description applies to you too...

37. fishmonk22 July 2011, 20:47 GMT +02:00

:-)

38. xymonau23 July 2011, 10:38 GMT +02:00

Well, since that trip to the vet, you've certainly changed.

39. fishmonk23 July 2011, 16:21 GMT +02:00

:-0

40. lusi27 July 2011, 21:46 GMT +02:00

Dan, you can forget your feminine side because RGB users, according to Alexa, do not tend to be female anymore. But we are back to the disproportion:
.."this site's audience tends to be aged 25–35 and 45–55; they are also disproportionately moderately educated women browsing from home who have more children."

So, if your moderate education is dispoportional, than perhaps the description still applies to you... :)

41. xymonau28 July 2011, 10:54 GMT +02:00

Oh, dear, I don't want more children!

42. fishmonk29 July 2011, 17:48 GMT +02:00

I'm not sure how disproportional I am, but I have inherited four step-children & I do browse from home - I think I'm still in there...
(I am also in one of those age groups) 'though not sure what has happened to the 36 - 44 yr olds (?)

43. xymonau30 July 2011, 9:52 GMT +02:00

In my age group, THEY'RE the children!

44. lusi29 November 2011, 0:33 GMT +01:00

Some new info on Alexa about us:
"...its audience tends to be female; it also appeals more to moderately educated users aged 25–35 and 45–55 who browse from home and have incomes under $60,000 and over $100,000."
We stil tend to be female, not too educated, but I don't know how did they get the income numbers... The income mentioned has nothing to do with me :)
By the way, this time they forgot the children...

45. xymonau29 November 2011, 9:44 GMT +01:00

Well, I'll settle for either of those incomes. I am not in those categories, really, except for the moderately educated.

46. crisderaud29 November 2011, 17:05 GMT +01:00

Alexa shows more sites leading in now. Must be more of those 'uneducated girls' in their mid fifties pulling in 60 to 100 grand doing blogs or something :)

47. weirdvis29 November 2011, 23:56 GMT +01:00

laffing

(class = none)(dryhumor)(nolurkmode)

Just who is this Alexa person anyways? There are an awful lot of people who can provide far more colorful descriptions of the riff-raff that are users here far better than her.

Mr. Jolley. Long time no see. I still have the Canyon Conundrum. No need for refund.
