Pale and Subtle Textures

It's hard to get a subtle texture approved here or anywhere else for that matter. I have purchased stationery with very subtle images on the pages. But to get these approved for stock is a challenge. Can someone tell me why, or what makes a good subtle texture? It's as if only clear bright images will do. I'm not complaining, but I see a use for these, and if my images are poor, so be it. But I'd be interested in what makes a good one.

Having said that, certainly in my gallery I have several paler images and textures that qualify for what I'm talking about, but I can't define a difference between those and others that have been rejected both here and on another site.
