Painting copyright laws?

Hey guys so this is my favorite photo from the Denver Chalk Art festival last spring- I'd love to paint it but am worried about copyright laws etc. Anyone know if I'm in the clear or if I should stay away from this photo?

Are you saying that you would like to do a painting of someone doing chalk drawings? If so, your painting would be your copyright and would represent your own creative perspective on a public scene. Under European copyright law (at least) I would doubt there was any problem.

Yep, I'd like to make a painting of a chalk artist. K, thanks.

You could always copy the artist, changing some details, then uae another classical image in place of the one she is drawing.
